I love pizza. I could eat pizza all the time. But as much as I love it, it’s nice to have other things to eat. We all love Green Woods CC. But sometimes it’s nice to play somewhere else. This week a contingent of members went to Washington Golf Club to participate in a Northwest Senior event.
Older than GWCC, Washington is a fun track kept in very good condition by Gary Cilfone. More hills, but tight fairways and small greens, sound familiar? Being about 1/3rd of the total participants, our group acquitted itself well by taking about 1/2 of the purse. The picture to the right shows Joe Mongeau striping one from the 2nd tee. I would suggest for Joe to make a copy of this photo and frame it, then to check it every once in a while to see what he did right.
David Owens is a member at Washington who played in last year’s event. He is also a writer for Golf Digest and frequently writes about Washington Golf Club at his blog My Usual Game on the Golf Digest Website. It’s a fun read that shows a different approach at a similar club.

Okay, now I think I’m going to go get some pizza.
