Spotlight on Juniors

Let’s focus this week’s spotlight on a couple of our junior members. DSCN6976

If you’ve been to Green Woods CC at all, you’ve seen Conor Bailey and Ryne Salius. They are at the course so much, i don’t think their parents want them home. Just kidding, it’s great to see them playing and practicing all the time. I caught them eating lunch outside on the patio while watching the Masters, I asked what was their go to item on the menu. They both loved the cheeseburgers. Next, what is their favorite hole at GWCC. Conor prefers going over the water on #8, but Ryne likes the challenge presented by #3. My last question may lead to some of you questioning your own golf game. I asked what was their best score for 9 holes. Ryne has had a 37 and Conor’s best was a 35. I would bet they improve on that this year.

PGA  Conor and Ryne have also participated on the Green Woods CC Junior PGA League Team. Green Woods has developed a youthful team of aspiring golfers to represent us playing other courses in the area, Goodwin Park, Tunxis, Copper Hill, and Farmington Woods.Matches will be held at 3:p.m. on Sunday afternoons, starting on May 3rd, continuing through May 31st feel free to come up and cheer on the kids, its great excitement.

On Friday April 17th, there was a friendly competition held DSCN6974at Green Woods .Just a little match between Ryne Salius/ Ken Williams vs Chris Salius/Todd Schaller. Let’s just say that this picture represents Chris giving Ryne his “allowance”. Because we all know “That gambling is not allowed at Bush Woods.” (If you don’t get that reference please  go watch the greatest golf movie of all time.) Probably won’t be the last time Chris gives him some allowance, but it was fun all around.
